Jackie Thatcher, 72, of Springfield, passed away at 11:50 p.m. on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at her residence. Jackie was born July 20, 1937 in Springfield, the daughter of John H. and Ann Tomlinson Jones. Jackie graduated from Lanphier High School in 1956 and went on to join the Air Force in 1957 and was stationed at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS. She lived in Kansas City for many years working in loss prevention for several major retailers. Jackie returned to Springfield in 1990 to continue her career and spend time with her family. She also worked as a server at Fritz's Wagon Wheel Restaurant. She is preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, John Jones. She is survived by two sons, John Viszlay of Chicago and Justin Viszlay of Aurora, CO; a daughter, Julia (Ken) Scott of Sharpsburg, GA; five grandchildren, Abigail, Anthony, and Andrew Viszlay, and Joshua and Casey Davin; one great-grandchild, Alexia Viszlay; five siblings, James (Polly) Jones, Judy Jiannoni, Janice Hughes, Jennifer (Cliff) Linne, and Jeffrey (Brenda) Jones all of Springfield; and many nieces and nephews. Graveside ceremonies will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 4, 2009 at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors.
