

James B. Cormeny, 77, of Springfield, died at 7:45 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2005 at Danville Veterans Hospital in Danville, IL. James was born on March 21, 1927 in Springfield, the son of Carl and Ella Brown Cormeny. He married Jane L. Gill on January 26, 1946 at Stuart Street Christian Church in Springfield. Jane preceded him in death on May 4, 2002. James was a WWII U.S. Navy Veteran. He retired from Sangamo Electric after thirty - eight years of service and also owned and operated his own saw sharpening business. Jim was also preceded in death by one sister: Dorothy Vice. He is survived by three sons: James (wife, Trish) Cormeny of Murphysboro, TN, John Cormeny and Tom (wife, Peggy) Cormeny both of Springfield; two daughters: Janice (companion, Roger Herbert) Cormeny of Petersburg and Connie Runkel of Springfield; ten grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two sisters: Charlene Ontis of Springfield, Marianne Page of Edinburg; one brother: Carl (wife, Betty) Cormeny of Springfield and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Scott Brindley officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
