He was born in Springfield, March 1, 1949, the son of James R. and Siotha (Riley) Grandstaff Sr. Jim’s parents and his brother Rex preceded him in death.
Jim married Linda Harris in Lebanon, IL October 5, 1968, and she survives. He is also survived by his two daughters: Traci (William) Stoops of Springfield, and Trisha (Dean) Wilkening of Cedar Lake, IN, and his sister, Barb Grandstaff of Springfield.
He honorably served in the U. S. Navy earning the National Defense Service Medal.
Jim retired in 2008 from Weber Construction Company where he served as a painter for several years. An avid bowler, he was a member of the Good Timers League for many years. He also was active with his daughters serving as their softball coach through the Girls Khoury League. He loved to camp and spend time with his family and friends. He was a member of Christian Assembly Church.
Cremation rites will be accorded. Private family services will be held later date.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may direct memorial contributions to the Animal Protective League or the Illinois Humane Society.
