

.James Elmer Lee Lyons, 72, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday July 14, 2016 at his residence. He was born on October 7, 1943 in Carlinville to Elmer Ray and Anna Christina Friend Lyons. Jim married Linda Lou Miller on February 28, 1963 in Chatham and she survives. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Lloyd Lyons.
Mr. Lyons is also survived by his children: James (Theresa) Lyons, Timothy (Pamela) Lyons and Cathy (Robert) Adelman all of Springfield, and Cynthia (Dan) Freeman of Edinburg, one sister Wanda Ostrow of Momence, IL., eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Jim was a Heavy Equipment Mechanic with Rolands Machinery and a Diesel Mechanic with Springfield Public Works for over 23 years. He was also an Operating Engineer with AFSCME Local #965. He enjoyed time with his family and was a great sportsman.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30am on Tuesday July 19, 2016 at Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 East Allen Street, with burial to follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 9:00am until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
