

James G. Milbrandt, 78, of Springfield passed away Saturday, March 3, 2012 in Gulfport, Mississippi. He was born on December 15, 1933 in Chicago, the son of Adolph and Bertha (Dahm) Milbrandt. He was raised in Boyne City, MI where he graduated high school. He went on to graduate with a master’s degree in Law Enforcement from UIS. He married Louanne Trudeau in Jefferson, SD on July 14, 1956. James proudly served his country for 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, until he retired and joined the Illinois State Police, retiring as a Bureau Chief in 1995. James was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, a member of the Illinois State Police Retirees, and loved spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren at their numerous different sporting activities. James is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Louanne Milbrandt of Springfield, his children Julie Bryan of Ballwin MO, Jill (Stephen) Leonard of Niantic, IL, Jim (Jeannette) Milbrandt, and Joe (Tracy) Milbrandt all of Springfield, his grandchildren; Tim and Eric Leonard, David and Marie Bryan, Josh and Jacob Milbrandt, Joey, Luke and Ryan, Milbrandt, a brother Dennis (Shirley) Milbrandt of Backus, MN, a very close nephew Dennis (Janet) Jones as well as many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, 2 sisters, and son-in-law James Bryan. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2012 from 4-7 pm at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S Koke Mill Rd. Springfield IL 62704, with prayers at 4pm. Funeral Mass will be on Friday, March 9, 2012 at 10 am at St. Agnes Church, 245 North Amos Avenue Springfield, IL 62702, with Rev. Bob Jallas celebrating the mass. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery with the Sangamon County Inter-Veterans Burial Detail providing military honors.
