

James J. Plesh, 80, of Springfield died at 12:50 p.m. Friday, December 31, 2004 at St. John’s Hospital Hospice. James was born February 15, 1924, the son of Steve and Antonia Zarec Plesh. He married Edna Kraus on September 30, 1950 in Springfield. James was employed by the City of Springfield for twelve years as an electrical groundsman. He was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. He was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran receiving three Overseas Service Bars, European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbons w/4 Bronze Battle Stars, Good Conduct Medal and WWII Victory Medal. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Joseph and John; sisters: Margaret Micheletti, Katherine Robinson, Mary Meneghetti and Fannie Serena. He is survived by his wife: Edna Plesh of Springfield, sons: Stephen (wife, Donna) Plesh of Villa Park, CA, Mark Plesh of Minneapolis, MN, Martin (wife, Judy) Plesh of Naperville; daughters: Teresa (husband, William) Reid and Barbara (husband, Tom) Johnson both of Springfield and Patricia (husband, David) Perlmutter of New Port Richey, FL; fifteen grandchildren: Nick Plesh, Renee Plesh, Matthew Plesh, Mia Plesh, Max Plesh, Emma Plesh, James Michael Reid, Katie Reid, Emily Reid, Lora Johnson, Tommy Johnson, Tim Johnson, Bryan Perlmutter, Jared Perlmutter, Megan Perlmutter and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2005 at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 1020 Milton Ave. Springfield with Rev. Richard Chiola celebrant. Burial will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will conduct military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 1020 Milton Ave. Springfield, IL 62702. The family of James J.
