James William Roberts, 71, of Springfield, passed away on March 11, 2022 at Springfield Memorial Hospital. He was born on December 11, 1950 in Springfield to John William Roberts and Ruth Evelyn Farmer.
Mr. Roberts is survived by one daughter Diletta McMullin of Chicago and eight other children, one sister Mikki Causino of Peoria, Illinois and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
James was a US Navy Veteran. He trained standardbred race horses at the Illinois State Fairgrounds and raced throughout the Midwest. James enjoyed model trains and was building a custom track.
Private services will be held and memorial contributions may be made to the Illinois Harness Horseman’s Association.
