

James Henry Vost, of Springfield, died at 2:13 p.m. on Monday, December 12, 2005 at Memorial Medical Center. James was born on April 8, 1926 in Springfield, the son of James Henry and Ellen Horin Vost. He married Marjorie M. Leahy on May 2, 1953 in Ashland; she preceded him in death on July 12, 1999. James, a 1944 graduate of Lanphier High School, was a plasterer for Rhodes & Rodier, refurbishing local churches, the State Capital and other public building’s. He also built homes for his family. He was a former member of Knights of Columbus Council #4179 and a member of Plasterers & Cement Masons Union Local and a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict stationed in Germany. He was also preceded in death by his parents, brother, Stu Vost and sister, Venus Brust. He is survived by two sons: Kevin (wife, Kathy) Vost and Jamie (wife, Karen) Vost both of Springfield; one daughter: Kelly Vost-Lock of Springfield; five grandsons: Eric, Kyle, Bradley and Ryan Vost and David Eric Lock; one brother: Tom (wife, Brenda) Vost of Springfield and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 4:30-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, December 16, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Robert J. Jallas officiating. Burial will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will conduct military honors.
