Jan Sescleifer-Irlam

Jan Sescleifer-Irlam, 64, formerly of Springfield, IL, passed away on March 29, 2016, at The Villages Hospice House in The Villages, FL, after a long heroic battle with liver cancer. She was born on May 27, 1951, in Springfield, IL to Arthur and Marthann Sescleifer. She married Ross Irlam on October 27, 1995, in Springfield, IL. Jan graduated from Springfield High School and Illinois State University. She obtained a Master's degree in Counselor Education and Bachelor's degrees in Spanish and Sociology. Jan was an educator, counselor, association manager and the owner of her own business, The Enrichment Group. She was a National Certified Counselor, a trained DACUM (Developing a Curriculum) facilitator and a licensed Illinois real estate professional. She won the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce "Home Based Business Owner of the Year" award, The Springfield Business Journal "15 Under 15" Award for business excellence and the Society of Government Meeting Professionals "Meeting Planner of the Year" award. Jan was a member of the Illinois Society of Association Executives (ISAE), the Tuesday Afternoon Mah Jong group, the Thursday Afternoon Ladies Luncheon group, The Juliets of Florida and many other social and professional organizations. She is preceded in death by her parents, and a nephew, Alan Bartolomucci. Jan is survived by her husband, Ross of The Villages, FL; a sister, Jo Ann (Bill) Bartolomucci of Springfield, IL; her brother, Dan (Cindy) Sescleifer of St. Louis, MO; four nieces, Amy Bartolomucci of Springfield, IL, Jane Sescleifer, Annie Sescleifer and Kate Sescleifer all of St. Louis, MO; and two nephews, Dan Bartolomucci of Loveland, CO and David Sescleifer of St. Louis, MO. She will be sorely missed by her family, her multitude of friends and her cats, Louis and Clark. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
