Janice L. Hayes

Janice L. Hayes, 70, of Edwardsville, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at Eden Village. Janice was born on May 11, 1938 in Springfield, the daughter of Robert and Charlotte Connor Schmidt. She married Thomas J. Hayes on July 28, 1967 and he preceded her in death in 1999. Janice retired from the human resources department at Aetna Insurance Company after more than thirty-five years of service. She was a fan of Illini basketball and the St. Louis Cardinals. Janice also enjoyed line-dancing and wintering in Florida. Also preceding Janice in death are her parents. She is survived by her children, Mark (wife, Donna) Hayes of Moro and Michael (wife, Jodie) Hayes and Michelle (husband, David) Yates, both of Edwardsville; five grandchildren, Mathew and Nathan Hayes, Samantha and Charlotte Hayes, and Wren Yates; two sisters, including her twin, Joyce Doolin of Ashland and Judy Kelley of Springfield; in addition to several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. A funeral ceremony will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, February 6, 2009 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with the Rev. Wes Pinkley officiating. Burial will follow at Farmington Cemetery near Farmingdale. Memorial contributions may be made to ALS Association, 2258 Weldon Pkwy, St Louis, MO 63146.
