Janine Utterback

She was born in Springfield on July 31, 1955, the daughter of Jerome and Edith Marie (Rentsch) Henderson. Janine married Derek Joseph Utterback in Springfield on May 16, 1992.

Janine graduated from Springfield Southeast High School and continued her education at Lincoln Land Community College. She went on to work as a Respiratory Therapist and retired after 32 years at Memorial Medical Center. Janine enjoyed solving puzzles, playing solitaire, making bracelets, watching movies, and collecting shells- especially from her trips to Sanibel Island, FL. She didn’t know a stranger and had an infectious smile that will never be forgotten.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Janine is survived by her husband, Derek; son, Chris Bell of Springfield; daughter-in-law, Amber (Jason) Derosear of Springfield; grandchildren, Amanda Wilson of Springfield and Makenna (Ryan) Brown of Dallas, TX; great-grandson, Ryker Jackson; first cousin, Edith Ann (Harold) Moore of Thayer; many cousins; and her beloved cats, Oliver and Buttercup. She was a loving aunt to several nieces and nephews.

Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.

Family will host a Celebration of Life on Friday, August 29, 2025, at West Side Christian Church, 2850 Cider Mill Ln., Springfield, beginning with a Memorial Gathering at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m., with Matt Cleveland officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Animal Protective League.
