

Jean Lee Lowe, 66, of Tallula, formerly of Petersburg, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at her home with her family by her side. She was born March 25, 1951 in Springfield to Glenn Eugene and Mary Claudine Walker Hale. She was preceded in death by her father, Glenn, and infant brother David Hale. Jean and Stanley Wayne Lowe married March 20, 1970. Jean was a foster parent and a home day care provider when her children where young. She got her start in lobbying when she worked with State Senator Babe Woodward (Danville) to pass a bill for home day care providers. Jean worked for Hannah (Legislative Tracking Service) and Illinois State treasure Judy Barr Topinka prior for working for ILCAAP. She was currently the Legislative Director for the Illinois Church Action on Alcohol and Addiction Problems from March 1, 1999 to the present. Jean was a very active member of the First Baptist Church of Bath, serving in many spirit-filled capacities with her husband.She will be greatly missed by her husband of 47 years, Stan; sons David Lowe of Petersburg, Matthew (Tiffany) Lowe of Athens, Jason Lowe (Katie Hill) of Petersburg; grandchildren, Kelsey Wehrheim of Greenview and Elrod Jett Lowe of Petersburg; great granddaughter, Scarlett Lilliana-Grace Sloan; mother, Mary Chamberlain of Petersburg; brother, Rick Hale of Springfield, uncles, Wayne Hale of Vandalia and William Hines of Phoenix, AZ; aunts Emily Hale of Petersburg, and Ada Walker of Phoenix, AZ; extended family and friends Cremation rites will be accorded by Cremation Services of Central Illinois, Chatham before services. Graveside service will be held at 10am, Saturday, May 13, at White-Union Cemetery, near Tallula, with pastor Milton Crain officiating.
