Jean Riggs

Jean Riggs, 84, of Springfield, IL, passed away Friday, February 14, 2014 at her home. Jean was born August 13, 1929 on the family farm near Humphrey�s, MO, to Paul Brown and Lora Ell Glaze Hill. She and Rev. Bill Riggs married December 24, 1950 and he preceded her in death July 20, 2008. A sister, Katherine Boone and brother, R. A. Hill also preceded her in death. Mrs. Riggs was an office manager at a Repertory Theater at Christian Theological Seminary for many years. Mrs. Riggs was a member of Laurel United Methodist Church, in Springfield, IL and Stephens Ministries. As a pastor�s wife, Jean supported the community through her husband�s ministries. Jean will be greatly missed by her daughters, Robin (husband David) Bethard and Lori Brown (companion, Ken Goodrich) all of Springfield, IL; grandchildren, Ryan (wife, Lisa) Bethard of Rochester, Tera Eilers of Oahu, Hawaii, Andrew Bethard (fianc�e Alicia Greer) of New Glarus, WI, Rob Brown of Springfield, IL, Natalie Brown of Bloomington, IL; great grandchildren, Evelyn Jean Bethard, Zachary Ryan Bethard and many nieces and nephews. Her family will greet friends from 4-8pm, Thursday, February 20, at Staab Polk Memorial, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham. The funeral ceremony will be held at 10am, Friday, February 21, at Staab Polk Memorial Home, Chatham. Cremation rites will be accorded by Cremation Services of Central Illinois after the ceremony.
