

Jeanette A. Palmer, 77, of Springfield, passed away at 8:07 a.m. on Monday, May 19, 2014 at her home. Jeanette was born October 30, 1936 in Springfield, the daughter of Claude and Aldona Lagunas Nevitt. She married John M. Palmer, Sr. on January 20, 1962 in Springfield. Jeanette was a graduate of Western Illinois University and was an English and history teacher in Pawnee and Springfield. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, John M. Palmer, Sr. of Springfield; three children, John M. Palmer, Jr. of Springfield, Aldona Marie (husband, Michael) Kauten of Alma, WI, and Eric David Palmer of Evanston; three grandchildren, Nicholas, Zachary and Quinn Kauten; two siblings, Beverly (husband, James) Starling of Pekin and James (wife, Andrea) Nevitt of N. Aurora; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Graveside Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 23, 2014 at Roselawn Memorial Park, 1735 S. Camp Butler Road, Springfield.
