Jerry Hendricks

Jerry Hendricks, 65, of Springfield, died at 9:01 p.m. on Monday, April 11, 2016 at his home. Jerry was born July 23, 1950 in Springfield, the son of Leslie and Jean Bakunas Hendricks. Jerry was a 1968 graduate of Lanphier High School and went on to receive his bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of IllinoisSpringfield, and later obtained his teaching degree from there, as well. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1968-1974. He worked for Allis-Chalmers, Pillsbury, General Mills, and retired from Luxfor in 2015, where he worked as a production manager. Jerry was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed fishing, going to Disneyland, and being a kid at heart. He was preceded in death by his mother and grandmother, Julia Bakunas. He is survived by two daughters, Kacy Hendricks of Allen, TX and Kari Hendricks of Seattle, WA; father, Leslie (wife, Dorothy) Hendricks of Springfield; three siblings, Dennis (wife, Becky) Hendricks of Springfield, Judith (husband, Brian) Briggs of Decatur, and Patricia Ann Beck of Sherman; the mother of his children, Karen Hendricks of Allen, TX; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. 1:15 p.m. on Friday, April 15, 2016 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Graveside Ceremony: 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 15, 2016 at Camp Butler National Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
