Jim Connolly, 53, of Springfield, died at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at his residence. He was born on October 31, 1953 in Springfield, the son of Patrick and Edith M. “Edie” Lynn Connolly, who preceded him in death. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in Vietnam from 1972- 1974 on USS Truxton, receiving the Vietnam Service Medal and Service Defense Medal. He was a self-employed painter. He enjoyed fishing, and was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Cubs. He is survived by two brothers: Greg (Rikki) Connolly of Hobart, IN; Pat (Deb) Connolly of Riverton; one sister: Lynn Marie Connolly, of Springfield; three aunts: Helen Shea, Mary Connolly, and Rose Penley; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and three great nieces. Private Family services will be held. Burial will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Department of Defense will conduct military honors Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care of Illinois (VNA), 720 North Bond Street, Springfield, IL 62702.
