Joann Louise Owens

Joann Louise Owens, 88, of Springfield, died at 12:02 a.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. Joann was born February 11, 1930, in Springfield, the daughter of Orville D. and Lela L. Parker Glossop. She married Francis "Joe" Owens on September 9, 1956, in Springfield. Joann graduated from Springfield High School in 1948 and was employed with the Comptrollers Division at AT&T until her retirement after over 30 years of service. She was a member of the TRN Club and AT&T Pioneers of America. Joann enjoyed collecting Hummel figurines and salt and pepper shakers, among other things. She also enjoyed traveling, going to the casino, and shopping. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, JoEllen Roth; sister, Peggy (husband, Lester) Collins; brother, Randall Glossop; and nephew, Tommy Glossop. Joann is survived by her husband, Joe Owens of Springfield; son, Jim (wife, Kim) Owens of Springfield; grandchildren, Jessica (fiance, Melissa Delay) Roth and Ryan (fiance, Holly Sturek) Owens; son-in-law, Tom Roth; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 9:30 - 10:45 a.m. on Monday, December 17, 2018, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. A funeral ceremony will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
