John B. Clark

John, the son of Andrew and Nelle Clark, was born July 25, 1937, on a farm south of Pawnee. He graduated from Pawnee High School in 1955. After graduation, John served in the United States Marine Corps and later attended Brown’s Business College.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Pat (Kathy) Clark; and his granddaughter, Alanna Clark.

John is survived by his wife, Debbie; three children, Diane (Joyce Stoeltig) Hacker,

Dawn (Craig) Mason, and Jay (Nikki) Clark, all of Springfield; six grandchildren; two brothers, Alan (Sue) Clark of Springfield and Mike (JoAnn) Clark of Round Rock, Texas; sister, Judy Millburg of Cummings, Georgia; and sister-in-law, Kathy Clark of Brighton, Illinois.

John began what would be a lifelong career in real estate with Charlie J. Johnson Realtors before forming his own company, John B. Clark Realtor in 1967.

He would later join The Real Estate Group, where he served as a partner until his recent retirement. He was a member of Capital Area Realtors for nearly 60 years and was an icon in the Springfield real estate market. John’s impact on the

Springfield area will continue to be felt for years to come as a pioneer developer of many notable residential subdivisions: Fairway Oaks, Weston Pointe, Lincolnshire, Irongate, Silver Stone and Olde Bradfordton Place.

John had previously been a member of the Sangamo Club, Illini Country Club and Panther Creek Country Club. John enjoyed traveling, having visited over 45 countries, and spending his winters with his wife Debbie at their home in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. His friends will remember him as a sharp dresser and having a knack for fine automobiles.

Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 9:30 until 11:15 a.m. on Friday, June 21, 2024, at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, IL. A Funeral Ceremony will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Mark Johnson officiating.

Burial to follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
