

John F. Crowe, 85, of Wauconda, formerly of Springfield, died at 1:50 a.m. April 25, 2005 at Wauconda Heath Care and Rehabilitation in Wauconda. John was born February 14, 1920, in Charlestown, MA, the son of Michael Joseph and Margaret Josephine Finn Crowe. He married Helen Marie Grigas, March 27, 1943; she preceded him in death January 3, 1987. Mr. Crowe was a postgraduate of Boston School of Commerce, Wentworth Institute, and United States Navy War College. He worked for Webster Engineering Corporation in Boston, MA from 1938-1940, FBI, Special Searcher in Washington, D.C. from 1940-1942, and Capitol Engraving as an Artist in Springfield from 1945-1954. He was President of John Crowe Advertising Agency in Springfield from 1954-1994. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II. He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #4175, and Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree, Bishop Griffin Assesmbly. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one son: James Patrick Crowe; two brothers: Joseph and Joseph Crowe; five sisters: Kathleen, Mary, Winifred and Julia Crowe and Margaret McGah. He is survived by two sons: Michael Charles Crowe of Palmyra, Bryan John (wife, Maureen) Crowe of Crystal Lake; two daughters: Carole Anne Crowe-Mantia of Bensenville, Janice Louise (husband, Roland) Tellier of Springfield; eight grandchildren; several great grandchildren; one brother: Charles Crowe of Milton, MA and four nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 4-7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 28, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. The Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree Bishop Griffin Assembly will be posting honor guard during visitation. Funeral Mass will be at 12:00 p.m. Friday April 29, 2005 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2119 N. 20th Street, Springfield with Very Rev. Thomas Liebler, V.F. celebrant. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will conduct military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Center Foundation, Metro St. Louis Chapter, 225 S. Meramec, Suite 1032T, St. Louis, MO 63105. The family of John F. Crowe is being served by Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield.
