

John P. “Jack” Dillon, 76, of Springfield, died at 12:40 p.m. on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 at his home. John was born on December 10, 1928 in Chicago, the son of Albert C. and Mary Sanks Dillon. He married Shirley Clemons on June 7, 1969 in Springfield. He retired as a Manager from CILCO where he had been employed for thirty-two years. John was a U.S. Army Veteran serving with the Military Police. During his military service, he received the WWII Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister: Flora Aiello. He is survived by his wife: Shirley J. Dillon of Springfield; five children: Cindy (husband, Herb) Shivers of Pekin, Mary Dillon of Punta Gorda, FL, Chris (partner, Ellen) Dillon of Fayetteville, AR, Jim (wife, Barb) Dillon of Jacksonville and Debi (husband, John) Trotter of Mt. Vernon; seven grandchildren: Laura (husband, Dave) Toel of Pekin, Jennifer (husband, Ryan) Marlatt of Pekin, John K. (wife, Tara) Dillon of Springfield, Matt, Jacklyn, Jesijo and Benjamin Trotter all of Mt. Vernon; eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Cremation accorded by Cremation Tribute Center, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. The family will receive friends at a Memorial Gathering from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 2, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. A Private Graveside Service will take place at Camp Butler National Cemetery with Rev. Donald Meehling officiating where the Interveterans Burial Detail will conduct military honors.
