John was born February 2, 1950, in Carlinville, IL, the son of Herbert and Barbara (Randolph) Hammann.
John attended Carlinville High School and spent more than 40 years living in the Auburn and Springfield area. A talented and passionate musician, he began playing drums in high school and continued into his early twenties with his band, Music Men. In addition to his own musical pursuits, John ran sound for Scott’s band and had a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, dedicating time to restoring classic hot rods.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Barbara; wife, Brenda Hammann; son, Scott Hammann; and brother, David Hammann.
John is survived by his daughter, Lisa Hammann of Springfield; and siblings, Susan (Donald) Stewart of Chatham, Mary Ann (Sam) Sexton of Staunton, Norma Jean Sprague of Urbana, and Stephen (Marty) Hammann of Carlinville; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
A private family burial will be held.
