John Maynard Karlsteen, 76, of Springfield, died at 12:14 p.m. on Friday, September 26, 2008 at St. John's Hospital. John was born on January 26, 1932 in Chicago, the son of Oscar and Frances E. Linquist Karlsteen. John moved to Springfield in1989 and was employed by Goodwill Industries from 1989 to 2004 and for the last four years was employed by Springfield ARC (SPARC). He had attended Trinity Lutheran Church and was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a cousin, Joe Wright. He is survived by two cousins, Virginia Wright and Gwendelyn Coleman both of Albuquerque, NM; and all his housemates at Bethesda Lutheran Homes & Services. Visitation will be held from 10:00 10:45 a.m. on Friday, October 3, 2008 at Concordia Lutheran Church, 2300 Wilshire Rd., Springfield. Funeral ceremonies will follow visitation at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor James Hennig officiant. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Chicago. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethesda Lutheran Home and Services, 1800 North Grand, Ave. West, Springfield, IL 62702. The family of John M.
