

John "Jack" L. Moffitt, Jr., 49, of Pleasant Plains, passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center. Jack was born February 7, 1967 in Springfield, the son of John L. and Norma Jean Baker Moffitt. Jack attended Glenwood High School and graduated from Rochester High School, where he was a track star. He also played basketball, golf, baseball, and softball. He was the greenskeeper at Brookhills Golf Club for 20 years, and had also worked for Coz's Pizza. Jack had a beautiful smile and was a loving person. Everyone loved his great sense of humor. Jack was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, enjoyed golfing, fishing, ice fishing, and playing the Nintendo Wii. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents. He is survived by his mother, Norma Jean Moffitt of Springfield; companion, Missy Benshoof of Pleasant Plains; children, John L. "Jake" (wife, Kaylen) Moffitt, III of Texas, Jordan Michelle Moffitt of Taylorville, Maggie Rae Moffitt of Springfield and Zachary Wayne Moffitt of Springfield; five grandchildren, McKynlee, Mia, Lamrie, Madalyn, and Gentry; two siblings, Robin (husband, Larry) Sarver of Waggoner and Todd (wife, Kellie) Moffitt of Missouri; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 10:00 -11:45 a.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at McCullough-Delaney & Butler Funeral Home, 714 E. Gibson St., New Berlin. Funeral Ceremony: 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at McCullough-Delaney & Butler Funeral Home, with Rev. Jerry Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Sulphur Springs Cemetery.
