

John "J.R." Reagan, 66, of West Peoria, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at VA Medical Center in St. Louis, MO. John was born on September 29, 1942 in Murphysboro, the son of Michael B. and Edith A. Walters Reagan. John graduated from Springfield High School before serving in the United States Army. A natural-born salesman, he spent the last twenty years selling timeshares. He was a member of United Auto Workers Local #1027, serving as former secretary and treasurer, the Knights of Columbus #364, and Eastside Democrats. John was an avid golfer who enjoyed reading, cooking, travelling. Blessed with the "gift of gab", he made friends everyone, and enjoyed a good glass of scotch. Preceding John in death are his siblings, Michael Reagan III and Beverly Weitzel; and his parents. He is survived by his children, John Reagan, Jr. of Springfield, Jeffrey Reagan of West Peoria, Frank Reagan, and Melissa Reagan, both of Melbourne, FL; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Mary Catherine Dodd and Patty Sue (husband, Dan) Broyles, both of Springfield; his aunt, Mary Walters; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 3, 2009 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 4, 2009 at Sacred Heart Church, 724 S. 12th, Springfield with Rev. Christopher A. House, celebrant. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the John "J.R." Reagan Family Memorial Fund.
