John Wisnosky, 66, of Honolulu, Hawaii, formerly of Springfield, died May 14, 2006. He was born in Springfield on March 21, 1940, the son of August P. Sr. and Ann A. Tisckos Wisnosky. Mr. Wisnosky was a graduate of Griffin High School and received Bachelor and Master of Fine Arts degrees from the University of Illinois. Mr. Wisnosky was a Professor of Art at the University of Hawaii and served as Chair of the Department of Art. He was a member of the faculty of the University of Hawaii since 1968. He was awarded commissions for his artwork in, Japan, Canada, Columbia, England, France, Hong Kong, Thailand and throughout the United States. His work is also in private collections throughout the world. He is survived by: his wife Mimi Wisnosky of Honolulu, HI; one daughter: Mimi (husband, Rick) Chang; one grandson: Sky Chang; one brother: August (wife Ann) Wisnosky; two nieces: Elizabeth Urbance and Susan Sigourney, both of Springfield and one nephew: John D. Wisnosky of Chesterfield, VA. Cremation services were accorded in Honolulu. The family of John Wisnosky is being served locally by Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
