

Joseph E. VonDeBur, 22, of Springfield, passed away at 8:35 a.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center. Joseph was born June 22, 1989 in Springfield, the son of Edward and Mary Colleen Bolser VonDeBur. Joseph graduated from Southeast High School and did home construction with his father. He proudly served our country in the National Guard and recently earned a Certificate of Achievement on July 9, 2011 for excellence in service. Joseph was a very sarcastic, loving, strong, goofy and spoiled young man with a great sense of humor that will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Rose VonDeBur, and George and Catherine Bolser; and an uncle, Stephen Bolser. He is survived by his parents, Ed and Colleen VonDeBur of Springfield; siblings, Theresa (husband, Ben) Walz, Melissa Anne VonDeBur, Catherine Marie (husband, Adam) Skelton, Charles Edward VonDeBur (Ashley Broaddus) and Rebecca Christine VonDeBur (fianc, Matthew Wood), all of Springfield; two nieces, Cadence and Hayden Skelton, both of Springfield; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his best friend Niqi Goodman of Springfield. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 2, 2011 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1725 S. Walnut St., Springfield, with Rev. Charles Bolser celebrant and Rev. Robert Bolser and Rev. Jeff Grant, concelebrants. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery where military honors will be provided by the Department of Defense.
