Joyce Lanham Rodgers

Joyce Lanham Rodgers, 77, of Springfield, died at 1:22 a.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center. Joyce was born December 13, 1936 in Springfield, the daughter of Dean and Bert Lanham; they preceded her in death. Joyce was a graduate of Lanphier High School. She was co-owner and vice president of Lanham True Value Hardware from 1965- 1991 and worked in Governor Jim Edgar's office from 1992 1995. She later retired from the State of Illinois. She volunteered at Senior Services of Central IL and was a member of the IL State Historical Preservation Agency, Springfield Mass Transit District Board, Old State Capitol Foundation Board, and the Greater Springfield Chapter Northenders Republican Club. She is survived by her son, Dean (wife, Angie) Rodgers of Springfield; brother, Ron Lanham of Springfield; aunt, Amelia Vangeison; and many cousins. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 2:00 3:45 p.m. on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at Northside United Methodist Church, 2400 N. Grand Ave., E., Springfield. Memorial Ceremony: 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at Northside United Methodist Church with Rev. Rita Nafziger officiating.
