

She was born in Punjab, India to Ram Rakha Mal Mangar and Satya Wati Mangar.
Kailash is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Jagat Dhamrait. She will be deeply missed by her children, Preeteka (husband Ronald Griffin) Dhamrait and Raj( wife Navkiranjit Rakalla-Dhamrait) Dhamrait, all of Springfield IL; her cherished grandchildren Alexis Dhamrait and Jatin Dhamrait; and her sisters, Krishna Saini of New Delhi , India, and Asha Saini of Calgary, Alberta. She is also remembered fondly by many nieces, nephews and cousins in India, Canada, and the United States.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved son Jagdeep Dhamrait, her brother Khidmat Rai Mangar, and her sister Surinder Mangar Saini.
Kailash graduated from Punjab University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.
She immigrated to Ontario Canada, then moved to Ottawa Illinois before making Springfield Illinois her home in 1983.
Throughout her life, Kailash was adored, respected and well-known within the Asian Indian community. She built a large circle of friends and touched many lives with her warmth and kindness. She was a world traveler. She was a great cook and loved to host parties. She also contributed to her talents professionally, working for the Illinois State museum and the Illinois Department of Revenue.
Kailash’s legacy of love and resilience will live on through her family and friends.
Memorial services will begin at 10 a.m.on Friday, February 27,2026 with visitation and cremation to follow. Services will be held at the Bisch & Son Funeral home on 505 East Allen Springfield Illinois until 12p.m. noon. A religious prayer service with langar(meal) will take place in Decatur, Illinois at a later date.
