

Karen Coady-Rinkema, 58, of Springfield, died at 10:52 a.m. on Sunday, May 14, 2006 at Memorial Medical Center. Karen was born July 23, 1947 in Litchfield, the daughter of Aloysius Thomas and Burnice Gregg Coady. Karen attended Quincy College, Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville and Carbondale and graduated from Sangamon State University with a Master’s Degree in Psychology. She was employed as an adjudicator with the State of Illinois for 28 years, retiring in February of 2006. Karen volunteered at local hospitals and was involved in the Animal Protective League and Habitat for Humanity. She enjoyed coaching her children’s soccer teams and was a past Brownie Troop Leader. She attended Church of the Little Flower. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by one daughter: Jamie (husband, Tom) Draper of Springfield; one son: Eric Rinkema of Springfield; one brother: Bernie (wife, Suzy) Coady of Springfield; two sisters: Jody Coady of Springfield and Carole (husband, Don) Leone of Collinsville; two aunts; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Family will receive friends from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with, Fr. Chuck Edwards officiating. Cremation will be accorded following the service by the Cremation Tribute Center, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Memorial contributions may be made to Church of the Little Flower, 800 Stevenson Dr., Springfield, IL 62703.
