

Karen Kay Selinger, 54, of Pleasant Plains, passed away at her home on Thursday, August 8, 2013, with her loving family at her side. Karen was born on December 10, 1958 in Springfield, the daughter of Henry and Delores (Pollack) Selinger. Karen was a pre-school teacher, running her own daycare and pre-school, serving the Springfield, Jacksonville, and Pleasant Plains areas, from her home for 15 years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Tallula, her beautiful singing voice was a large part in the Church's ladies quartet. She also enjoyed sewing, outdoor activities, and loved her family and pets very much.
Surviving Karen are her children; Amber Seed of Pleasant Plains, Joshua Seed of Springfield, Heather Rosenthal of Pekin, her grandchildren; Makenzie Seed of Pleasant Plains, Kylar Seed of Urbana, Andrew Rosenthal of Pekin, her brothers; Dennis (Dorothy) Selinger of Palmyra, Rick (Linda) Selinger of Sherman, her step-mother Lois Selinger of Buffalo, several nieces and nephews, and her beloved pets.
Preceding her in death are her parents, her step-father George Pollack, and her brother Mark Selinger.
Services will be held at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd. Springfield, IL 62711, on Wednesday, August 14, at 10 am, Pastor Bob Driggers will conduct the services. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. The family will greet visitors and guests on Tuesday, August 13, from 4-7 pm at the funeral home.
Memorials in Karen's name may be made to the Animal Protective League.
