

He was born in Springfield on September 7, 1943, the son of William and Elsie (Redeker) Cycholl. Kenneth married Dianne Nyilas in 1967, and they had two children. He later married Janet Kluckman in 2017.
Kenneth graduated from Springfield High School in 1961 and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy and earned a National Defense Service Medal. He retired from Illinois Bell, later becoming AT&T, after 32 years of work. Kenneth loved to build things and volunteered his time at Habitat for Humanity for almost 20 years, where he built houses for those in need. He was also a member of the Sangamon County Rescue Squad, retiring in 1987 as Chief after over 20 years of service. Kenneth was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan, enjoyed playing poker, and loved everything NASCAR and dirt track racing. Kenneth was hardworking and would do anything for his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Janet; son, Douglas Alan (Menelle) Cycholl of Springfield; daughter, Kimberly Ann (John) Bartello of Springfield; stepson, Dan (Michelle) Swift of Springfield; grandchildren, Levi and Luke Cycholl, Daylee Pickett, Bri Bartello, and Austin (Kristen), Bailey (Lindsey), William (Billy), David (Emma), and Ellamarie Swift; siblings, William (Gail), Chuck (Bobbi), and Ruth Cycholl, and Sue (Rich) Clark; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
Graveside Service: 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors.
The family will host a celebration of life on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Prop Club, 264 Maple Grove Ln., Springfield, IL. Time will be determined at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity and Sangamon County Rescue Squad.
