

Kenneth was born on December 14, 1933, in Washington, IL, the son of Peter Samuel and Elmira Rosella (Schertz) Imhoff. He married Norma Jean Lugeanbeal on November 24, 1957, in Metamora. He then married Verna Pauline Gilpin on December 14, 2013, in Springfield.
Kenneth was a farmer in his youth. He volunteered through the Mennonite Central Committee to help build homes for WWII refugees in Germany, then he helped with flood clean-up in Holland, followed by a rural development program in Egypt with the International Voluntary Services, Inc., which was the forerunner to the Peace Corps.
He obtained a graduate degree in clinical and school psychology from Bradley University. He served as a school psychologist in Logan County for seven years, then worked in the state office of education for two years, and finally joined the Vine Street Psychiatric Clinic for nearly 30 years as a clinical psychologist. Kenneth also consulted with Brother James Court.
He volunteered with the American Red Cross and taught psychology at Lincoln Land and Sangamon State University.
Kenneth loved music and was a member of a Jug Band. He enjoyed reading, gardening, and building as hobbies. Kenneth was also a member of the Model A Ford Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife of 52 years, Norma Jean Imhoff; and his second wife of six years, Verna Pauline Gilpin Imhoff.
Kenneth is survived by his son, Kevin (Julie) Imhoff; daughter Nancy (Sharon) Imhoff; grandchildren, Nathan (Laura) Imhoff, Kevin (Samantha) Imhoff, Drew (Racheal) Imhoff-Moore, and Anna (Phil) Dobbing; three (soon to be five) great-grandchildren; and sister, Fern Elizabeth (Russ) Bachman.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, June 27, 2021, at Butler Funeral Home – Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield.
