Lanore May Krotz

Lanore May Krotz, 81, of Springfield, died at 12:43 p.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at St. John's Hospital. Lanore was born February 15, 1931 in Kenney, the daughter of Lee and Evelyn Troxell Ball. Lanore was a graduate of Lincoln High School and worked at St. John's Hospital as a medical secretary and receptionist in cardiovascular department and centralized scheduling and admitting receptionist. She had previously worked for Dr. Floyd Barringer from 1963-1985 and Dr. Paul Smally from 1985-1988. Lanore was also a greeter for Prairie Heart Institute. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years and was a member of Illinois Medical Assistants, former member of Lanphier High School Booster Club, and belonged to the Pinochle Club at Douglas Avenue United Methodist Church. Lanore was an avid reader, a huge Cubs and Illini basketball fan, enjoyed watching her grandchildren's sporting events, trying new recipes and collecting cookbooks. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by one son, Tony (wife, Robyn) Krotz of Cary; two daughters, R. Gayle (husband, Larry) Beck and Jayne Dodson, all of Springfield; seven grandchildren, Jacob, Theresa, Amanda, Andrea "AJ", Jeff, Chad, and Mallory; seven great-grandchildren, Ella, Kylie, Haleigh, Hayden, Kamden, Kaylee and Allie; three sisters, Rosalie Schrader of Las Vegas, NV, Jo Ellyn Pollard of Charlotte, NC, and Roberta (husband, Kevin) Flynn of Lantana, TX; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 3:30-6:15 p.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Douglas Avenue Methodist Church, 501 S. Douglas Ave., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Douglas Avenue Methodist Church, with Rev. Julia Melgreen officiating. Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 7, 2012 follow at Mt. Pulaski Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to: Douglas Avenue United Methodist Church, 501 S.
