

Larry Reed, 73, of Springfield, died on Monday, July 16, 2012 at St. John's Hospital. Larry was born February 21, 1939 in Chicago, the son of Eugene Thornton and Mary Reed. He married Gloria Durrett on May 13, 2009 in Springfield. Larry worked as a respiratory therapist for over 30 years, and was a graduate of Forest Park Community College in St. Louis, MO. He was one of Jehovah's Witnesses, and enjoyed talking to others about the bible. Larry enjoyed fishing, talk radio, music, and yard work. He was preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Reed of Springfield; one son, Jeff (wife, Lisa) Reed of Springfield; two daughters, Cynthia (husband, Robert) Tulloch and Sheila (husband, Carlton) Francis, born from his previous marriage to Marilyn (Perkins) Reed, all of St. Louis, MO; six grandchildren, Ebony, Monique, and Jaden Reed, Ransford Tulloch, and Savannah and Sasha Francis; one great-grandchild, Ava Reed; 7 step-children; and several step grandchildren; one brother, Eugene Brown of California; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. Memorial Ceremony: The family will be hosting a memorial ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 3076 Normandy Rd., Springfield with Tommy Burnett officiating.
