

Leonard Michael ''Lenny'' McNamara, 50, of Rochester, passed away Monday, April 2, 2001 in Negril, Jamaica. Leonard was born February 3, 1951 the son of Leo J. and Alice M. Mogra McNamara in Kobe, Japan. Mr. McNamara worked as a Deputy Sheriff for Sangamon County for over 20 years. He was a U.S. Marine Veteran of Vietnam, a long time member of the Blue Knights Motorcycle Association, a member of the Fraternal Order of the Police Lodge 55 and a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his mother: Alice McNamara of Springfield; two brothers: James and Leo McNamara, both of Springfield; one nephew: Connor McNamara and three nieces: Amanda McNamara, Stephaine and Sarah Schroyer. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 South 6th Street in Springfield, from 3-7:00 p.m. Sunday, April 8, 2001. Members of the Sangamon County Sheriff's Honor Guard will post Honor Guard during the visitation. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 9, 2001 with Reverend Rodney Schwartz celebrant. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will conduct military honors.
