Lillian L. Allen

Lillian L. Allen, 97, formerly of Oglesby, IL died on Wed., January 5, 2011 at Villa Healthcare East of Sherman. Lillian lived in Oglesby, IL until 2000 when she moved to Springfield, IL to be near her son Brian.

Lillian was born on February 18, 1913 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Arthur and Anna Johnson. Lillian graduated from LaSalle-Peru Township High School and LaSalle-Peru-Oglesby Junior College (now Illinois Valley Community College) and worked in accounting, as well as being a homemaker. She was a longtime volunteer for the Illinois Valley Community Hospital (IVCH) Auxiliary in Peru, IL. She loved reading, the news, politics, and documentary and environmental shows.

Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Anna Johnson, a brother, Howard, in infancy, sisters Jeanette (Kenneth) Berryman and Violet (Edmund) Danz and husband Albert Harold Allen.

She is survived by two sons, Bruce (Dianne) Allen, of Bella Vista, AR and Brian (Pam) Allen, of Springfield, IL and, one daughter, Margaret (Dr. David) Weiss of Lincolnwood, IL. Lillian was the proud grandmother of 4 and great grandmother of 8.

Private arrangements will be followed by cremation accorded through Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel, Springfield, IL.
