Loran B. Gebhards

Loran B. Gebhards, 92, of Springfield, passed away at 12:50 a.m. on Friday, October 24, 2014 at St. John's Hospital. Loran was born January 14, 1922 in Petersburg, the son of Schwer Ben and Minnie Goetting Gebhards. He married Rose Mary Lott on June 19, 1954 in Springfield; she preceded him in death. Loran was a lifelong resident of Sangamon and Menard Counties. He was a lifelong farmer and when he wasn't working, he was an avid gardener. Loran was a Former Trustee on the Curran-Gardener Township Board and a Sangamon County Farm Bureau Board Member for 12 years. He attended all family functions and was an avid supporter of all of his family members. He was also preceded in death by his only brother, Harry A. Gebhards, who died in WWII. He is survived by two sons, Mark (wife, Beth) Gebhards of New Berlin and Paul Gebhards of Springfield; and four grandchildren, Shane Gebhards of South Carolina and Grant, Logan, and Molly Gebhards of Springfield. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. An additional visitation will be held from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home. Funeral Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas B. Christell, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
