

Lori was born on January 10, 1930, in Chicago, the daughter of James and Barbara Vilnis Spina. She married John T. Simpson on September 5, 1992, in Springfield.
Lori was a graduate of Thornton Township High School in Harvey, IL. She attended the American Conservatory of Music. From 1975-1982, she was a Legislative Assistant to Representative William L. Kempiners. She was then a state-wide coordinator for the Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Program and retired from the Dept. of Public Health. Lori was also self-employed as a certified Forensic Document Examiner. She was a member of the IAQDE (Illinois Association of Question Document Examiner) and the State Retirees. In Loris spare time, she enjoyed fishing, skiing, traveling, entertaining guests, and their cabin in Wisconsin North Woods.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and one sister.
She is survived by her husband, John T. Simpson of Sherman; four children, Debra (husband, Cliff) Chapman of Bolingbrook, IL, Sandra Delfs of Palatine, IL, Scott (wife, Annette) Bennett of Springfield, and Sheila (husband, Noel) Hatcher of Minneapolis, MN; two step-children, John T. (wife, Lisa) Simpson of Cascade, MD and Jill (husband, Ken) Ortiz of Gloucester, MA; six grandchildren, Rachel Chapman, Morgan Lesiewicz, Brandon Delfs, Dawn Bennett, Denise Bennett, and Danielle Bennett; two step-grandchildren, Joshua and Andraya Ortiz; one sister, Donna VonDrake of Phoenix, AZ; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.
Ceremonies and interment will be held at a later date.
