

Born in Springfield on March 16, 1937, Lou was the son of Louis Oliver and Josephine (Rimkus) Bringle. On May 3, 1958, he entered into marriage with Mary Ann Pemberton, sharing a bond that lasted a lifetime.
Lou earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Springfield and dedicated 42 years of exemplary service as an engineering technician V at the Illinois Department of Transportation, in the Bureau of Bridges Hydraulic Unit. His commitment and expertise earned him the title of Engineer Technician of the Year, recognized by the American Society of Certified Engineering Technicians.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Lou was deeply involved in his community and faith. He was an active member of Christ the King Church and proudly served with organizations such as the Aqua Sports Club and as a 4th degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus Council 364. Lou generously volunteered his time as a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts and as a coach for his children’s sports teams. His philanthropic spirit extended to regular donations to St. John’s Bread Line.
Beyond his commitments, Lou found joy in simple pleasures. He relished in traveling with Mary Ann, demonstrating his culinary prowess through his famous chili recipes, and cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events. A sports enthusiast himself, Lou found delight in activities like softball, bowling, and golf, embracing each moment with enthusiasm and zest for life.
Lou leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and unwavering dedication to his family, friends, and community. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Brian Patrick Bringle; sister, JoAnn Bringle; brother and sister-in-law, Robert (Eva) Bringle; and sister and brother-in-law, Eleanor (Harold) Bishop.
Lou is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; daughters, Lu Ann (Dennis) Kamstra of Coppell, TX, Karen (Kevin Fron) Bringle of Chicago, and Patricia (Douglas) Williams of Rochester; and grandchildren, Aspen and Talon Williams and Marisa (Alexander) Higgins.
Visitation and Funeral Mass: Family will receive friends from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at Christ the King Church. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Father Wayne Stock officiating.
Inurnment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Christ the King Church or St. John’s Bread Line.
