

Lucy V. Koke, 91, of Springfield, died at 8:24 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at her residence. Lucy was born November 17, 1918 in Palmyra, IA, the daughter of Joseph H. and Mary Elizabeth McNatton Chambers. She married Edward Osburn Koke on June 10, 1941. He preceded her in death on February 8, 1992. Lucy worked as a cook at the former Treasure Island in New Berlin and also New Berlin High School. She later retired from St. John’s Hospital. Lucy enjoyed embroidering, stitching and playing the piano. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her grandson, William “Billy” Miller. She is survived by her son, Roger Koke of Springfield, her daughter, Karen Duewer of McCleansboro; six grandchildren, Kevin Koke, Scott Koke, Roberta Olsen, Louella Reynolds, Rhonda Blissett and Roy Miller; fourteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 28, 2010 at McCullough Delaney and Butler Funeral Home, 714 E. Gibson St., New Berlin. A funeral ceremony will be held on Monday, March 1, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at McCullough Delaney and Butler Funeral Home with Anthony Bliss officiating. Burial will follow at Woodwreath Cemetery.
