M. Rita Maloney

M. Rita Maloney, 84, of Springfield, died at 1:44 a.m. Sunday June 3rd, 2001 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield. She was born October 8th, 1916 in Springfield, Illinois, the daughter of Edward Joseph & Mary Ellen Hussey Maloney. Ms. Maloney had worked for Illinois Bell for 45 years. She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and Telephone Pioneers of America. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law- June Maloney- February 3rd, 1997 and brother- Raymond Maloney- January 5th, 1998. Surviving are six nieces- Cathy (husband-Peter) Schneider of Forestville, CA, Pat Carroll of Hingham, MA, Mary Maloney (husband-Chris Norton) of Sebastopol, CA, Jean Maloney of Chicago, IL, Sheila Kelly of Springfield, IL, and Maureen Maloney of Springfield, IL; 4 great-nieces- Gabrielle Carroll, Leah Carroll, Annie Kelly, and Sophie Maloney-Norton; 4 great nephews- Jessie Carroll, Ben Schneider, Tim Schneider, and Jason Maloney; and several cousins. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday June 5th, 2001 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 South 6th Street in Springfield. There will be a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday June 6th, 2001 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, the Rev. John Titus celebrant.
