M. Wayne Langhein

He was born on May 16, 1940, in Victor, IA, the son of Milton and Netha (Maudlin) Langhein. He married Patricia Ann Sonichsen on September 6, 1964, and they spent almost 55 years together. She preceded him in death in May of 2019.

Wayne attended a one room country school for six years. Later, he attended junior and senior high school in Victor, IA. He received Jesus as his Savior and was baptized at Victor Baptist Church in 1947. Wayne then went on to graduate from the University of Iowa and Bethel Seminary in 1967. He worked for 27 years in the parachurch communication ministries. Wayne worked for Billy Graham’s business office from 1965 until 1974, owned Fellowship Films from 1976 until 1989, and finished his career working for WLUJ radio station from 2009 until 2014. A member of Cherry Hills Church since 1999, Wayne was a proud member of Kingdom Builders and an active member in the Seniors Sunday School Class. He loved his family and was proud of their accomplishments. Wayne was a devoted husband and loving father. He enjoyed his daily visits to Scheels, spending time with his many friends, and taking naps with his favorite grand-cat, Archie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife.

Wayne is survived by his son, Mark (Jackie) Langhein; daughter, Karleen (Tim) Wagoner; and sister and brother-in-law, Peg (Cort) Van Buskirk.

Memorial contributions may be made to Cherry Hills Church.

The family will host a Memorial Gathering from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2025. A service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Cherry Hills Church, 2125 Woodside Road, Springfield, IL with Chad Reeser officiating.
