

Margaret was born December 25, 1936, in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Merle and Susannah (Bryant) Henson. She married Clyde L Yost on April 12, 1960, in Springfield, IL. He preceded her in death on October 12, 1989.
Margaret graduated from Lanphier High School, class of 1954. She retired from Ameritech, formerly known as Illinois Bell in 1986, after 32 years of service to the company. Margaret was a member of the telephone pioneers. She was of Catholic faith and was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Virden, IL, where she was a member of the community for 36 years. Margaret had a soft spot for Saint Louise de Marillac and her dedication to social work and caring for the poor. She enjoyed gardening and cooking. Margaret was a master of making caramels and peanut brittle and won many “best in shows” at the state fair for her candies and preserves.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, George, Fred, Charles, and Milton Henson; and sisters, Betty Dufer, Mary Anne Hayes, Nancy Henson, and Patricia Handwerk.
Margaret is survived by her son, Allan (Denise) Yost of Auburn, IL; daughters, Leslie Orr of Pittsfield, IL, Sue Kahl of Springfield, IL, and Jennifer (Mike Vanpelt) Yost of Litchfield, IL; brother, Hobart (Sandra) Henson of Bloomington, IL; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Butler Funeral Home - Springfield, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield, IL, until the time of the ceremony at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
