She was born June 21, 1922, in Harlan, Iowa, to Samuel E. and Vashti Sorenson Wiley.
Her husband, Glenn Younkin, preceded her in death in 1995.
Surviving are her two sons, Dr. Scott Younkin (Kathy) of Raleigh, NC and Dr. Casey Younkin (Linda) of Springfield; and seven grandchildren.
Peggy graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Summa Cum Laude, in 1944. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Bronze Tablet, Island Bay Yacht Club, Springfield Junior League, Springfield Womens Club, Illinois Pilots Association, and received her degree as a registered nurse in 1978. She was employed by the U.S. War Department in New York City during World War II, and in Europe for three years following the war.
Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
Private family ceremonies will be held at a later date.
