

Marguerite Frances McNear, 87, of Springfield, died on Friday, May 9, 2014 at Blake Medical Center in Bradenton, FL. Marguerite was born July 4, 1926 in East St. Louis, the daughter of Frank and Margaret Moll Madden. She married Oscar J. McNear, Sr.; he preceded her in death on March 4, 1998. Marguerite received her associate's degree in art from Lincoln Land Community College. She was a member of the Cachet Club, Red Hat Society, Springfield Ceramics and Crafts and a former member of Springfield Art Association. Marguerite enjoyed the arts and travelled the world, but most of all she loved her grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Oscar Joseph McNear, Jr.; two brothers and one sister. She is survived by children, Nancy Guinn of Bradenton, FL, Carol (husband, Vito) Saputo of Brandon, FL and Mary (husband, John) Poff, Michael (wife, Terri) McNear and John (wife, Amy) McNear, all of Springfield; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one brother, Lawrence Madden of Collinsville; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 16, 2014 at St. Joseph the Worker, 700 E. Spruce St., Chatham, with Fr. John Nolan celebrant.
