Marie Lorraine Howett

Lorraine Howett, 71, of Springfield, died at 4:20 a.m. Friday, August 20, 2004 at St. John’s Hospital Hospice. Lorraine was born May 17, 1933 in Springfield, the daughter of William R. and Margaret McGill Connolly. She married Eugene Howett in 1950. Lorraine, a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy, was employed as a Licensed Agent, Office Manager and Stockholder at Forsyth Insurance Group, Inc. where she was named Employee of the Year in 1997; she retired in May 1998. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed her family, gardening and reading. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by two sons: John (wife, Sally) Howett of Des Moines, IA, William (wife, Connie) Howett of Springfield, four daughters: Connie (husband, Greg) McCall of Maryville, Judy Cunningham of Metropolis, Jody Bass of Collinsville and Sarah Sorensen of Metropolis, twelve grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, three brothers: Bill (wife, Bebe) Connolly of Maryland, Mike Connolly of Springfield and Frank (wife, Bonnie) Connolly of Virginia, two aunts: Annette Scott of Granite City and Loretta Constantine and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends from 4 – 7:00 p.m. Sunday, August 22, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. The visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 23, 2004 at St. Katharine Drexel Parish at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. Kenneth C. Steffen and Rev. Msgr. John A. Renken celebrants. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Hospital Hospice Program, 800 E.
