

Marie E. (Woodruff) Rine died at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at Villa Health Care East in Sherman. She was born October 31, 1922 in Linton, Indiana, the daughter of Geneva Evelyn Flake and Lovell Houston Anderson. She married Donald B. Woodruff October 28, 1939 in Linton, Indiana and they later divorced. She married Neil Rine of Springfield, Illinois in 1971 and they later divorced. She is survived by her three children, her son, David Woodruff (wife, Ginda) of Jacksonville, Illinois; her daughters, Gayle Reid (husband, Robert) of Missoula, Montana and Denise Woodruff of Riverton, Illinois; 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Anne Barnard of Wisconsin and one brother, George Lutz of Ohio. She was preceded in death by her daughter Donna Brown and one brother. Marie worked at Illinois College Tanner Library in Jacksonville from 1958 to 1964. She began working for the State of Illinois in October 1965 as Staff Librarian for the Illinois Department of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities at Jacksonville Mental Health Center. Marie then transferred to McFarland Mental Health Zone in Springfield in 1971 as a Staff Librarian. In 1983 she transferred to a position as Librarian with the Historical Library in Springfield and retired from the State in December 1988. During her lifetime while raising her children, Marie served as Sunday school teacher, Cub Scout, Brownie, Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader. Marie enjoyed bowling and playing bridge. Over the years, she belonged to various bowling leagues and bridge clubs. She was a longtime member of the Cachet Club in Springfield. Marie has donated her body to medical science. A memorial gathering will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 10, 2008 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
