Marilyn Ruth Detgen

Marilyn Ruth Detgen, aged 91, of Springfield, Illinois, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025. She was born on April 3, 1934, in Sparta, Illinois, to Stanley Lucas and Genevieve Skinner Lucas. On April 4, 1953, Marilyn married Bernard C. Detgen in Campbell Hill, Randolph County, Illinois.

Marilyn is survived by her son, Mark L. Detgen of Springfield, Illinois, and her sister, Janie Khoury (John) of Kenosha, Wisconsin, June Lucas (Robert), of Collinsville and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Laurie Ann Detgen, and her brothers, Robert S. Lucas and Ronald G. Lucas.

Marilyn was a devoted wife and mother who cherished family vacations and treasured time spent with family and friends. She embraced life fully and brought warmth to those around her. Growing up in Coulterville, Illinois, Marilyn was a cheerleader, an honor roll student, and was well-liked by her classmates at Sparta High School. She worked at World Color Press in Sparta and later graduated from Flamingo Beauty College, pursuing a career as a beautician. Additionally, she served as a pharmacy assistant at Whalen’s Rexall Pharmacy in Springfield. Marilyn was an active member of the Concordia Lutheran Church Ladies Aid.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 South Koke Mill Road. Family and friends are invited to gather and greet each other from 11:00 AM until the time of service on Tuesday at Bisch West.
