Marilyn Kutscher Tate

Marilyn Kutscher Tate, 86, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, August 09, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center surrounded by her family. Marilyn was born on April 16, 1928, in Litchfield, the daughter of the late Frank and Helen (Heise) Whitmore. Marilyn married Harry Kutscher in May, 1947. They shared 24 years together until he preceded her in death on February 17, 1972. Marilyn worked as a secretary and office manager at Local 1027 Union Hall. Later while working at Memorial Medical Center she met Dean Tate and they were married in 1977. He preceded her in death in 1979. After retiring from Memorial Medical Center she then worked part-time for another ten years at Crawford and Company. She was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Springfield. Marilyn was a caring and loving person and her family, including her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her life. She enjoyed trying her luck at the boats in Alton and Peoria with her sister and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Surviving Marilyn are her children: Larry (Chris) Kutscher of Springfield, Connie (Brian) Small of Galatia, IL, Gary (Maria) Kutscher of Huntington Beach, CA, and Rob (Melissa) Kutscher of San Ramon, CA; her grandchildren: Chad (Megan) Kutscher, Kelly (Scott) Mehring, Scott (Kellse) Kutscher, Heather (Ben) Schultz, Courtney (Tony) Repetto, Tyler Kutscher, Nick Kutscher, and Nathan Kutscher; great-grandchildren: Landon and Grant Kutscher, Abby and Sophia Mehring, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a large extended family who also called her Grandma.

Marilyn was also preceded in death by her son Harry Lee Kutscher, brother Robert (Marilynne) Whitmore, and her sister Judy Pence.

Services are under the direction of Bisch & Son Funeral Home, 505 E Allen St., Springfield, IL 62703, where a visitation will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2014, from 4-7 pm. A funeral service officiated by Pastor Greg Busboom will be held on Friday, August 15, 2014, at 10 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society or to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
