

Marjorie J. McDonald, 75, of Springfield, died at 4:10 p.m. on Sunday, June 1, 2008 at Heritage Manor. Marjorie was born June 27, 1932 in Springfield, the daughter of Walter and Martha Mae Stephens Stalling. Marjorie was a graduate of Springfield High School. She was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving for over 10 years. Marjorie was employed at Hobbs for several years and later at Springfield News Agency, which became Austin Periodical Service. She retired in August 1994 after 28 years of service. Prior to entering the U.S. Navy, she had worked for Sangamo Electric for several years. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by a son, Lt. Commander Michael L. (wife, Collette) McDonald of Santee, CA; three grandchildren, Brittany, Jayson, and Katlyn; two sisters, Doris Mae (husband, Edward) Cox of Springfield and Anna Belle (husband, Melvin) Jones of Collinsville; special friend, Vercie A. Staggs; and 1 aunt, 1 uncle several nieces, nephews and cousins. Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center following visitation. Graveside ceremonies will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 5, 2008 at Oak Ridge Cemetery with Dr. Richard R. Ahlgrim, officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the U.S. Department of Defense.
